Why You Need To Be In Business For Yourself…

The news is coming fast and furious…layoffs, downsizing, bankruptcy, foreclosures. The economy has been in a nose-dive, and the future for workers is very uncertain. The average employee has lost their power and the security of knowing their job will be there tomorrow.

In these uncertain times, the only consistent thing in the workplace is constant change. Even the companies that do manage to keep their doors open are restructuring and expecting more from their employees, while providing less incentives for doing so.

The only way to truly take charge of your own situation and not be vulnerable to recessions, depressions, lay-offs and other horrible life events, is to work for yourself. It allows you the freedom, and the power, to create your own destiny and to blaze your own trail.

Is it a little scary at first? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely!  The easiest way to get over your fear is to simply do "something". Start an online business or even just start brainstorming new ways to succeed in life. Just do SOMETHING!

Believe it or not, a recession is actually the best time to start a business. Did you know that more millionaires were made during the Great Depression than in any other time in American history? Given the right mindset, and taking consistent action, you can create untold success and create a life most only dream of.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you grew up thinking that working hard meant success. That if you just worked longer hours and more days per week, you’d be more successful at your job, and more fulfilled with your life. It doesn’t work that way - not anymore.

No matter how well you do your job or how dedicated you are to your company, it can all be gone in the blink of an eye. I found this out first hand. I was a firefighter and loved my work. I was helping others instead of worrying only about myself, and I was happy.

There I was...heart-broken, jobless and broke. It was a huge wake up call for me, and I decided to take my fate into my own hands. My life has never been the same. I started a real estate investing company and eventually got into real estate investing. Now, I’m my own boss, and my income has skyrocketed.

Of course, it’s not really about the money. It’s about the freedom I’ve gained, the security I have, and the person I’ve become in the process. Having your own business opens up a whole new world of opportunities, not just for financial well-being, but for personal growth as well.

There has never been a better time to take hold of your destiny, and carve your own space in this world. While stepping out of your comfort zone may seem risky, the true risk is in putting others in control of your life. If you end up cut off from your only income source, your options become limited very fast. Your own business is the only true security in this type of economy. It’s a way to fire-proof your life, and ensure you have the financial stability to make your dreams come true.
